Charter of Commitment to Support Science Education

On February 19, 2009 the BIOCOM Board of Directors signed the science education charter of commitment below to commemorate the first anniversary of the BIOCOM Institute and to champion science literacy throughout the region.  If your company would like to support this charter please email kgrover@biocom.org to become a part of this important movement.

As a life science community, it is crucial that we come together to ensure the growth and sustainability of science.  The Life Science Charter of Commitment to Support Science Education is a campaign that will take concrete actions to help transform today’s education to meet the needs of tomorrow’s economy.  It supplies life science stakeholders the opportunity to share knowledge and practices across the region, so that science education may be improved.

The BIOCOM Institute and key community partners are playing a major role in the effort to enhance science literacy.   Your company can take part in this important initiative and empower change in our education system.

On behalf of my organization, I sign this Charter of Commitment to support BIOCOM Institute programs and to actively undertake any or all of the following:

  1. Encourage employees to participate in volunteer science education opportunities
  2. Strengthen science curriculum by providing real world examples
  3. Host company tours for students and science teachers
  4. Communicate career opportunities in science via webcasts, videos or career fairs
  5. Donate laboratory equipment, supplies, or office equipment to our schools
