Senator Mark Wyland was elected to the California State Senate in November, 2006, after serving in the State Assembly since 2000. The 38th District covers northern San Diego County and southern Orange County, with a population of nearly 1 million people.
In the California Senate, he is Vice-Chair for both the Business, Professions and Economic Development Committee and the Labor & Industrial Relations Committee. He also serves on the following committees: Governmental Organization; Appropriations; Veterans' Affairs and Education.
Prior to serving in the Legislature, Mark Wyland was co-owner of Pine Tree Lumber Company, a family-owned lumber and building-materials supplier in Escondido. Mark says his years at Pine Tree Lumber helped shape his unique approach to the challenges facing employees and business owners.
