In the current economic and venture capital climate, angel investment is one of the most critical sources of start-up capital. Angel networks are the source of the majority of this funding. These national and local groups are comprised of high net worth individuals who meet -- formally or informally -- to vet and discuss deals and learn about the best new business opportunities. Each network works in a slightly different way: some solicit applications via the group's website while others require an introduction. Some charge fees for applications or presentations and others are free to apply. Along with capital, angel networks bring additional added value. The majority of members are successful business people with valuable industry contacts, experience, management knowledge, and creative ideas.
