Biocom Gives Back

Ocean Discovery Institute Habitat Restoration

In June 2019, Biocom participated in a hands-on habitat restoration in Manzanita Canyon in City Heights, San Diego. We had the opportunity to learn about the local canyon ecosystem, how to improve the quality of urban natural spaces and how the maintenance of  important watersheds directly impacts our ocean and coast. The event was held at ODI’s Living Lab, a world-class educational facility created in partnership with the San Diego Unified School District. The lab enables Ocean Discovery to “reach all 10,000 children in this community, increase quality and frequency of programming, and expand the roles of families, teachers, and mentors. Most importantly, the Living Lab encourages City Heights students to further explore science and conservation as they grow their educational and career goals.”
