Biocom California’s new Tech+Biotech+Medtech (TBM) community aims to capitalize on existing expertise by creating opportunities for experts from biotechnology, medical technology, clinical and research settings, sensor and semiconductor technologies, data management and integration companies, artificial intelligence, virtual reality and other consumer driven technologies to come together to realize the full promise of digital health. Our goal is to accelerate the potential of a truly connected TBM ecosystem, and this forum will serve as a launchpad for limitless collaborative innovation in the digital health space.

Bay Area Committees

Bay Area Policy Working Group
Bay Area Policy Working Group

Biocom’s Bay Area Policy Working Group meets on an ad-hoc basis to address policy issues in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. This committee is a forum for Biocom California members to proactively deliver input on proposed legislative changes at city and county levels of government. It also reviews and discusses proposed Biocom California legislative positions, and votes on which ones merit Biocom California positions, and what those positions should be.

The joint Facilities/EH&S committee provides a central forum in the Bay Area life science community for professionals working in these fields to share best practices, participate in continuing education opportunities, and design workshops and events.

Sabrina Binczewski
Senior Membership Coordinator — Bay Area

Sabrina supports the membership team by targeting potential new members and following up with existing members. She communicates with members about the many benefits of joining Biocom and ensures they are making the most of their membership in the Bay Area.

Sabrina graduated from the University of Southern California in May 2019 with a BS in Biology and Minor in Business. Her past experience includes an internship with WaveMaker360 Health, in which she identified and networked with healthcare start-ups at USC.

Mitzy De La Pena Medina

Mitzy De La Pena Medina
Public Policy Associate, Bay Area — Bay Area

Mitzy works out of Biocom’s Bay Area office, supporting the Director of Regional Policy and Government, Melanie Cohn. Mitzy will handle regional legislative and regulatory issues on behalf of our Bay Area members.

She comes equipped with a degree in Political Science, campaign experience, and a strong background in policy work as a community outreach specialist for San Mateo County. Mitzy’s connections with elected officials and familiarity with the San Francisco Bay Area’s policy networks will be a great asset to Biocom’s policy activities.

Brandon Jenkins
Sr. Manager of Events, Bay Area
Brandon Jenkins
Sr. Manager of Events, Bay Area — San Diego

Brandon is responsible for managing and executing events and programs in the Bay Area and ensuring that each member finds value through the content and networking opportunities that we are providing in the Bay Area. He also manages multiple conference rooms that are open to our members for meetings and events.

Brandon brings over 10 years of event production experience working mostly with non-profits and higher education. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Communication from Clarion University and his M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from Kent State University

Michelle Nemits

Michelle Nemits
Executive Director, Bay Area — Bay Area

As Executive Director of Biocom’s South San Francisco office, Michelle is responsible for building the framework for enabling the creation of a strong, well-connected life science community in the Bay Area. She leads Biocom’s programming and benefits efforts and helps raise awareness of the region’s innovations and accomplishments.

Michelle has spent over 20 years in Bay Area life science sales, marketing and business development. She has held leadership roles at a large lab supply distributor and at a biotech tools startup, which fostered her broad view of the Bay Area market, its challenges and its opportunities.

Pavel Svoboda
Office & Project Coordinator — Bay Area

Pavel is responsible for supporting the Bay Area Office & coordinating projects that enhance the Bay Area membership experience. He also controls the Member Perks Program for the Bay Area.

Pavel is a San Diego native & UCSD graduate with a BS in Human Biology. Prior to Biocom, Pavel was affiliated with a Bay Area not-for-profit & continues to attend scientific conferences.

Cheryl Zuckerman
Senior Business Development Manager
Cheryl Zuckerman
Senior Business Development Manager — Bay Area

In her role, Cheryl partners with all life and science innovators in the Bay Area to help expand their presence and fulfill their goals through development, value-add services and engagement. She works to both help build the framework of a strong, well-connected life science community and assists existing Biocom member companies to maximize the savings they can generate through the Biocom Purchasing Group contract portfolio.

Cheryl brings a unique skillset to the position with her undergraduate degree from Rutgers University and an M.B.A in Healthcare Administration and Technology. She worked for Johnson and Johnson in sales and marketing with 10+ years’ executing complex sales processes and finding solutions to maximize efficacy and efficiency.
