2023: Momentum for the Mega Cluster

Thanks to all of you and our community, 2022 was a pivotal year for our industry in the greater LA region — the strength, resilience, and benefits of collaborating with the life science industry took center stage in several arenas. 2023 is our year to work with and focus our government leaders on supporting and investing in the life sciences, removing development barriers and continuing our growth momentum despite current macroeconomic challenges.

Our life science mega cluster* is unique in its size, diversity, investment, real estate growth potential, world-class research institutions and local talent pool. This region presents as a “Marvel Universe” — knitting together a cadre of significant individual life science micro-hubs such as Thousand Oaks, Pasadena, Inglewood, Santa Clarita/Palmdale, Torrance, Long Beach, El Segundo, (and more) into a cohesive mega cluster powerhouse of diverse life-saving innovators.

Our economic strength, job and growth potential have garnered the attention of the media, business community and elected officials through our GrowLABio campaign, Spotlight Series, CEO Summit, Biocom/BizFed summit, press opportunities and direct meetings with decision-makers. The State of California, the LA County Board of Supervisors, and leaders in cities throughout our region are eager to partner with us to create new programs and incentives to help us “win the space race” to identify real estate where our industry will thrive.

Please send your success stories so that we can keep these positive achievements top of mind as we enrich our life science mega cluster!

You are a significant component of this great energy and support, and we thank you for your time and investment thus far. We look forward to keeping up our momentum and achieving even greater heights together in 2023!

Sincerely,

Steph Hsieh
Los Angeles Executive Director, Biocom California
