Program Manager, Workforce and Talent – Bay Area

Position Summary:

The Program Manager, Workforce and Talent, Bay Area will manage a portfolio of Biocom California Institute programs and initiatives in the Bay Area region. The manager will be responsible for implementing existing workforce and talent related programs and in conjunction with our corporate team, developing custom programs for the Bay Area members and partners, as needed.  This will include experiences for specific populations such as teachers, students, life science companies and employees, and regional partners.  

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as regional lead on existing workforce and talent development initiatives and programs; engage with partners and community stakeholders to understand the workforce needs and talent gaps. 
  • Collaborate internally and externally in developing programs designed to develop and train a diverse pipeline of talent for the Bay Area life science ecosystem 
  • Communicate and work with key industry and education partners in facilitating programs 
  • Facilitate and provide oversight for workshops, committee meetings and events 
  • Help recruit students, teachers and members to participate in our education and development initiatives 
  • Coordinate and support participants throughout their program experiences 
  • Collect data, create reports, surveys and data reviews relevant to measuring impact of programs 
  • Present and report to relevant stakeholders about Biocom California Institute’s workforce initiatives and programs 
  • Manage the Bay Area budget for workforce and talent related programs 
  • Research local funding opportunities where Biocom California Institute expertise could be applicable 
  • Perform other duties consistent with the goals and objectives of this position as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; degree in a Life Science field preferred 
  • At least 5 years’ experience in program management and development  
  • Proven expertise in community engagement, programmatic and volunteer coordination  
  • Strong knowledge and familiarity of current techniques and procedures used in program design and development  
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills; ability to promote activities and events on social media (Twitter, LinkedIn, etc) and direct outreach to stakeholders 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications – Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point – and a CRM such as Salesforce  
  • Be able to work independently and collaboratively  
  • Must be comfortable leading teams  
  • Must be passionate about Biocom’s mission and vision  
  • Strong commitment in delivering the highest quality work  
  • Highly resourceful, solutions oriented and flexible with changing priorities and dynamic environment  
  • Project management experience is preferred. 

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in the Bay Area is $90,000- $120,000.  The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education etc.  Biocom California is a multi-state and multi-regional employer and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states and regions.
