Sr. Manager of Events, Bay Area

Reports to:
Sr. Director of Conferences and Corporate Sponsorship

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize event programs and activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the organization. Develop new programs to support the strategic direction of the organization.
  • Manage the logistical aspects of planning, execution, and evaluation of all of Biocom events in the Bay Area (and greater California as needed) working as necessary with other staff, presenters, hotels, and appropriate suppliers to build a positive and professional image for all events and meetings.
  • Manage and work within set event budgets; Responsible for running, reconciling and closing out expenses on each event.
  • Manage stakeholders (sponsors/partners/speakers) to make communication easy and transparent regarding project issues and decisions.
  • Support event marketing through website, emails, marketing design, and social media in coordination with the marketing team.
  • Manage and support event related Committees comprised of Biocom members.
  • Support Sr. Director with sponsorship efforts including implementation of sponsor benefits, post event evaluations and other duties as needed.
  • Manage event registration site (SFDC) and serve as Lead Registrar onsite for all Bay Area events.
  • Undertaking new assignments as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS Required
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in meeting or event planning
  • Meeting planning certification(CMP) a strong plus
  • Knowledge of the life science industry preferred
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • Extremely organized with meticulous attention to detail, and strong follow-through
  • Self-starter with demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Ability to work well alone and collaborate effectively and professionally with others
  • Experience staying on task and working under deadlines
  • Strong process orientation with priority for quality
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders and partners
  • Ability to work early mornings and late evenings as needed
  • Light travel
