System Administrator

Sr. Director, Business Systems – Purchasing Group

Job Description:
The System Administrator is an internal customer service role responsible for all IT support at Biocom including desktop, telephony, server and network support and administration for approximately 60 employees across 4 US locations.  The System Administrator will work closely with the Sr. Director of Business Systems to drive long-term IT strategy that is agile and appropriately balances usability and security.  Being that this is a small organization this role supports a variety of systems (both hardware and software) so you must be comfortable wearing multiple hats and be exited to learn new skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve technical problems, escalate and track problems appropriately.
  • Triage and address end user IT support requests with this assistance of a 3rd party MSP.
  • Manage Office 365, Active Directory, group policies, identity management, MDM, email, network, file server and unified communications
  • Manage, deploy and configure hardware upgrades, software updates, security patches and other necessary items on an as-needed basis.
  • Resolve technical problems with Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), and other systems as necessary
  • Manage and deploy end-user devices using Microsoft Intune MDM
  • Proactively monitor logs and security bulletins to ensure system integrity
  • Assist with routine security, IT and financial audits
  • While extremely rare, it is expected that you are reachable after-hours in the event of critical system problems.
  • Support remote offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco and D.C. with travel approximately 6 times per year.
  • Provide support and training for business partners on Biocom sales tools (Salesforce.com)
  • Assist with basic administration of Salesforce.com (user provisioning, reporting and troubleshooting)
  • Other responsibilities and task may be assigned as needed.


  • BA/BS degreed preferably in Computer Science or MIS.
  • 3+ years of experience as a System Administrator in a Microsoft environment (specifically Microsoft 365)
  • Proficient with Windows 10, Windows Server 2016/2019, and MacOS
  • Proficient with IPv4 networking, including DNS, SMTP/POP/IMAP, LDAP, SSH, DHCP, Subnetting, and VLANs.
  • Experience with Unifi and FortiGate devices.
  • Proficient with a wide array of network equipment including switches, firewall, routers, APs and network topology design and implementation.
  • Experience with a Mobile Device Management (MDM) platform such as Microsoft Intune or AirWatch.
  • Experience with scripting languages (PoweShell) for systems management.
  • Experience with other development languages (Javascript, HTML, CSS, .NET, Java, Apex, etc…) is a plus.
  • A Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) and/or CompTIA’s Network+/A+ certifications a plus
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
