Mission Statement
Support transitioning veterans at all stages (currently in the military, student, working, everywhere in between); Provide non-duplicative, individualized support unique to Biocom California’s position in the life science community.
Committee Responsibilities
Veteran Outreach
Outreach to veterans and veteran groups.
Plan Symposium
Plan the fall career transition symposium.
Secure Mentors
Secure mentors, currently working in the industry, for transitioning veterans.
Plan Career Fair
Plan the spring career fair.
Industry Outreach
Outreach to industry and academic partners.
Biocom California Responsibilities
Organize Meetings
Organize and facilitate committee and workgroup meetings to deliver on strategic imperatives.
Recruit Members
Actively recruit committee members to ensure a strong roster.
Communication
Provide official communication to committee members through agendas.
Organize Events
Organize, market, and produce veteran-related events and/or workshops.
Ensure Accuracy
Ensure accurate and updated information in publications.
Committee Chairs
Committee Admissions Requirements
Must be a senior-level employee with a strong interest in veteran issues. Not mandatory to be a veteran yourself. Must represent an industry or service provider member company or organization working to advance life science and better health outcomes in the Biocom California member regions. To ensure a strong working committee, Committee Members are required to attend/call into at least 75% of meetings and actively participate in committee workgroups. The full committee meets at least six times per year and workgroups can meet more frequently to plan an event or tackle whatever issue is at hand.
