Biocom Hosts Successful Roundtable with Congressman Eric Swalwell

On August 19, Biocom hosted a legislative roundtable with Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-CA-15) as part of our Legislative Roundtable series. Representative Swalwell is serving his fourth term in the U.S. House of Representatives and represents California’s 15th congressional district, which includes a large part of the East Bay.

The roundtable was held at Arcus Biosciences in Hayward, which is located in the Congressman’s district. The following companies and organizations were represented: Airgas, Arcus Biosciences, Bonneville Labs, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Covington & Burling LLP, Invitae, and Thermo Fisher Scientific. Rep. Swalwell expressed his support for our industry, including the value to the patient community and the economic benefits that our companies bring to the East Bay. He shared his enthusiasm for new technologies, including genomic data, artificial intelligence, immunotherapy and precision medicine. Attendees had the opportunity to provide insight into the work they do and the growth of the East Bay innovation hub, and answered questions related to access and affordability.
