On May 29th, Biocom presented The Path Forward: Biocom’s Return to Work Guide for California’s Life Science Industry, a comprehensive resource tailored specifically to life science companies with recommendations on how to safely return to the workplace as stay-at-home restrictions enacted in response to the COVID-19 pandemic are eased. This week, Biocom was pleased to release an updated Addendum to The Path Forward—a culmination of new guidance and best practices on preparing the workplace, preparing the workforce, and testing & tracing in response to member feedback post-initial launch.

Since launching the guide, Biocom’s Return to Work Task Force, made up of industry leaders spanning the life science ecosystem, has continued to meet and monitors the most current information for the industry. Biocom has also hosted several events and workshops within The Path Forward Return to Work event series which have provided in-depth discussions on employee testing, workplace travel, adapting facilities, and more. Key insights from these events are included in the newly released addendum as well as several additional resources.

The addendum contains best practices and guidance on the following:

  • Workplace travel
  • Temperature testing
  • Compliance with routine cleaning protocols
  • Closing operations in case of a suspected infection
  • Work from home strategies
  • Comparisons and real-life examples of COVID-19 testing options

As California sees a rise in coronavirus cases and 26 counties have now been placed on the California Department of Public Health watchlist, it’s even more critical the mitigation strategies found in The Path Forward Guide and in the addendum are followed. Biocom welcomes feedback on the guide and addendum as we strive to provide California’s life science companies the necessary guidance to achieve business continuity in a COVID-19 world.
