Joshua Britton, Ph.D.

CEO of Debut Biotechnology

At Debut Biotechnology, Joshua and his team are taking a different approach to traditional manufacturing – creating materials and chemicals from biology, not unlike the way beer is brewed. Unlike alcoholic fermentation, however, Debut selects the right technologies and approaches to overcome the industry’s greatest biomanufacturing challenges and limitations. Much like its namesake, Debut is breaking ground as a novel player in the biomanufacturing realm, using special enzymes and developing new technologies that truly distinguish them in the field. “We are only now beginning to understand biology,” Joshua says. “With that being said, we are having to create new technology to keep up with the understandings of human health, and we see synthetic biology and biomanufacturing playing a large role in taking these discoveries public.” A fan of scuba diving, golfing and building financial models, Joshua is also raising his two cats, BonBon and Remus, and he can never turn down a good British curry when he can find one.
