COVID-19 has presented unique challenges for our schools and educators, and we would like to invite you to join us in supporting teachers and students in our community.

Biocom’s flagship community program, the San Diego Festival of Science & Engineering, is bringing science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) professionals to our communities’ classrooms (virtually, of course!)

It is critical to expose students to possible careers in our industry, so they can aspire to jobs that they may not have otherwise known existed. In today’s distance-learning reality, those opportunities are scarce, and the chances for interactive classroom visits are even more uncommon. In these uncertain times, the Biocom community is committed to supporting students of all socio-economic backgrounds in our region and their teachers to continue to provide impactful educational experiences.

That’s why we are placing hundreds of professionals from our community into California classrooms. We want to give YOU the chance to spend 30 minutes virtually visiting a San Diego County classroom, explaining your job, and answering students’ questions.

Your impact is threefold:

  1. This is your opportunity to share your expertise with a classroom for 30 minutes.
  2. You’ll provide students a real-world example of someone who earned a position that they can aspire to someday hold.
  3. You’ll offer support to the teaching community while also providing diverse learning experiences for their students.

We have a real opportunity to make an impact and we need our community (YOU) to step up to make that possible.

Here’s our commitment to you:

  1. We’ll make the process simple, easy, and streamlined. You’ll just need a computer, internet connection, and a willingness and openness to share.
  2. We’ll give you a template lesson plan/suggested talking points to follow, where you’ll insert your own content.
  3. You’ll feel a genuine sense of fulfillment and you’ll make a real difference in the lives of dozens of students, their teachers, and their parents.
