Mission Statement
This committee provides a central forum within the life science community for all digital health related issues. The committee helps the life science industry better understand the digital health sector while helping provide guidance/solutions for their challenges. The group is also advancing technology-enabled self-care with mobile health devices through its Smart and Connected Health Homes trial. Finally, the committee recommends positions on digital health-related bills to the Legislative Committee/Public Policy Oversight Committee.
Committee Make-Up
To ensure a strong working committee, participation includes a committee chair and committee members. Committee members are required to attend/call in to at least eight digital health meetings per year to maintain a seat on the committee. Meetings take place each month on the second Wednesday from 8:30 – 9:30 am.
Committee Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning of workshops, including developing themes, and identifying and securing speakers.
- Participate in community outreach to bolster Committee participation, as well as outreach to government offices and life science clusters throughout California.
- Act as a resource to Biocom members regarding digital health matters.
- Keep abreast of regulation changes that will affect the life science industry, and communicate changes to Biocom staff and other committee members.
- Give expert perspective/input on potential legislation and report to the Legislative Committee/Public Policy Oversight Committee for further Biocom action.
Biocom Responsibilities:
- At the direction of the committee chair, provide official communication to committee members through agendas, emails, and background documents for all committee meetings.
- Prepare and distribute marketing materials to promote any digital health-related events and/or workshops and activities, including registration materials.
- Ensure accurate and updated information in publications.
- Organize logistics for digital health committee meetings.
