Biocom Institute’s first annual Life Science Workforce Symposium will focus on the value of work experience, contemporary tools and data, and streamlined curricula and internships in preparing students and early-stage employees for today's competitive life science market.

The symposium will include interactive panel discussions lead by thought leaders from around the industry as well as insights into best practices regarding industry-academic partnerships, internship programs, and modern electronic skills badging.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to discuss personal strategies, challenges, and experiences surrounding student preparedness for the modern life science industry, and the many bottom-line benefits of an effective corporate internship program.

The symposium will be rounded out by our 2017 Hackathon awards ceremony where we'll announce the student winners of the 2017 Hackathon 4 Health.

Who should attend:

  • Hiring professionals/C-level executives interested in investing in or streamlining an internship program that attracts top-tier talent for future positions
  • Small companies/VC-backed companies unsure of their internship options and of best practices in cases where resources are limited
  • Professors interested in enabling their students to transition to a career in life science (not every student goes on to med school)
  • Career advisors interested in gathering the most up-to-date advice to give students interested in a life science career
  • Deans and department heads interested in implementing a learn-by-doing philosophy in their curricula to better close the gap between education and industry experience
  • High school administrators, counselors, teachers interested in advising their students on the value of work experience and how to get it
