Capital Development Committee

 
 

Mission Statement

The Capital Development Committee provides a centralized forum within the life science community for all capital development related issues. This committee seeks to address the increased need for capital, throughout the life science industry, in this challenging economic environment. The committee offers programs that help life science companies tap into various financing resources. Finally, this committee is responsible for staying current with life science industry issues and trends, as it relates to Biocom members.

Committee Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning of workshops, including developing themes, and identifying and securing speakers.
  • Encourage participation from industry and non-industry companies/organizations through workshops and events.
  • Participate in community outreach to as it relates to capital development, as well as outreach to biopharmaceutical companies, venture funds, and angel investors in the life science clusters throughout California.
  • Act as a resource for the Biocom membership regarding Capital Development matters.
  • Act as the keeper of facts for the Greater California region as it pertains to the life science industry– including key facts/statistics on research institutes, venture capital funds, etc.

Biocom Responsibilities

  • At the direction of the Co-Chairs, provide official communication to committee members through agendas, emails, and supporting materials for all committee meetings.
  • Provide clear procedures for participation in each program and coordinate the program with the committee, Co-Chairs, and participants (investors and institutions).
  • Prepare and distribute marketing materials to promote programs, including registration materials, and distribution through various channels.
  • Ensure accurate and updated information in publications.
  • Organize logistics for Capital Development Committee meetings and events.

The Capital Development Committee is a board-level committee. Prospective committee members must be Biocom Board Members or appointed by a Board Member. For more information, email capdev@biocom.org.
