Biocom Bay Area now has an official home in the GENESIS towers in South San Francisco and on September 21, 2018 we held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the occasion. On that beautiful sunny morning, people from 32 cities around the bay came to celebrate with us as our CEO, Joe Panetta, provided opening remarks on our journey to the Bay Area and the significance of opening this office to support our members here.  Other dignitaries who spoke and welcomed Biocom included Lesley Stolz, Biocom Board of Directors member and Head of JLABS California, Gregory Theyel, Director of the Biomedical Manufacturing Network, Mike Futrell, City Manager in South San Francisco, and Mark Smedley, President of Genetic Sciences, Thermo Fisher Scientific.

The event offered an opportunity to announce our Bay Area Advisory Board which includes Marianne De Backer, VP, M&A Operations, Divestitures and IDV BD at Johnson & Johnson, Chris Haskell, VP and Head West Coast Innovation Center at Bayer Healthcare, Rachel Haurwitz, CEO at Caribou Biosciences, Richard Lin, Founder and Head of Strategy at Explora Biolabs, Gail Maderis, CEO of Antiva Biosciences, Janet McNicholas, Partner at Jones Day, Joe Panetta, CEO at Biocom, Catherine Sharpe, Sr. Director at Fibrogen and Gregory Theyel, Director of Biomedical Manufacturing Network. We were also able to showcase our beautiful new office and conference facilities.

The grand opening was followed by a Supplier Showcase, where many of Biocom’s Purchasing Group suppliers displayed information on special benefits on pricing and terms Biocom members get through their membership. Our goal is to offer our members all the resources they need to grow and accelerate in their fields, and continue to accelerate the life science industry.

If you’re in the area, please stop in and see us in South San Francisco!
