Grande Colonial Wins #8 Spot on Fodor’s 2018 “Top 12 Hotel Bars in San Diego”

Every year, the editors and experts of Fodor's, the leading name in travel guides for over 80 years, evaluate thousands of hotels across the globe. Only those offering a truly distinctive experience are given the Fodor’s Best designation.

"For many travelers, a noteworthy bar takes a hotel stay to the next level, whether it's a dimly-lit nook of a wine bar or a perch in the sky with panoramic views. When it comes to lodging, sprawling San Diego has a lot of different options, from hotels in the heart of the city to resorts overlooking the sea, " says AnnaMaria Stephens with Fodor's Travel.

Coming in at #8 on Fodor's 12 Best Hotel Bars in San Diego is Biocom Purchasing Group endorsed supplier, Grande Colonial.

Why Grande Colonial's Nine-Ten Restaurant made the list:

"Just a couple of blocks from La Jolla Cove, the Grande Colonial is La Jolla's oldest original hotel, built in 1913. The property's Nine-Ten Restaurant and Bar, a sophisticated space serving California cuisine with an emphasis on farm-to-table, is known for its extensive Wine Spectator cellar and a movers-and-shakers happy hour. Outdoor seating features a patio and a terrace with a sliver of an ocean view."

Set in picturesque La Jolla, the Grande Colonial has sensational ocean views and a storied past. In the 1950s, it housed movie stars such as Gregory Peck, Charlton Heston, and Groucho Marx, who were performing at the nearby La Jolla Playhouse. Guests still get the star treatment at the historic hotel, which has bright rooms and a tranquil garden and pool.
