In an effort to continue to connect Biocom members with elected officials during the pandemic, Biocom hosted two recent virtual roundtables with California Reps. Scott Peters and Harley Rouda, as part of our Legislative Roundtable series.

Rep. Peters’ roundtable took place on October 6. Representative Peters is serving his fourth term in the U.S. House of Representatives and represents California’s 52nd congressional district, which includes a large portion of San Diego’s life science cluster. A week later, on October 13, we hosted a roundtable with Rep. Rouda who is serving his first term and represents California’s 48th congressional district in Orange County.

Both events were full. Attendees had the opportunity to provide insight into the work they do and share their successes and challenges related to a variety of issues, including the research and development of covid-19 and non-covid-19 products, working during a pandemic, clinical trials, supply chain, drug pricing, regulatory policy, as well as ensuring patients access to innovative products. Both legislators showed support and enthusiasm for the work of our members and our industry in general.
