Los Angeles City Councilmembers Paul Krekorian and John Lee have introduced a motion to preserve light industrial properties in the Northridge and Chatsworth communities for future life science and technology uses. The motion calls for an inventory of existing assets (schools, transportation, infrastructure, etc.) that would support these properties and make the area attractive to potential businesses.

The motion is part of a long-term plan to establish this area as an incubation space to attract modernized industries that support high paying jobs. The first step was to designate the boundaries with the creation of “Innov818” in 2017.

The motion will next be heard at LA City Council’s Planning and Land Use Management Committee – no hearing date is set as the committee is meeting less frequently during COVID-19. We will continue to monitor this issue and work with the council offices as the motion progresses.
