At Biocom Institute, we are committed to preparing the next generation of life science professionals and strengthening California’s life science workforce. The transition from college to the workplace is a pivotal time, which is why we created the Life Science Career Fellowship.
The Fellowship connects first generation college graduates and other emerging talent with experienced industry professionals who can help them navigate career opportunities, build professional confidence and prepare for meaningful careers in the life sciences.
Mentorship Overview:
As a mentor, you will:
- Guide an emerging professional as they navigate the life science industry
- Expand your network and connect with professionals committed to workforce development
- Strengthen your leadership and communication skills while gaining fresh perspectives
Mentor Commitment
- Six month commitment from January through June
- Approximately 15 total hours throughout the program
- Participation in individual mentoring meetings and scheduled fellowship events
- Hybrid format that includes virtual sessions and in person regional events
Most Fellowship events take place on Wednesdays at either 12:00 p.m. or 5:00 p.m., generally once or twice per month. Mentors may also be invited to optional networking and engagement opportunities.
Regional Eligibility
- San Diego
- Greater Los Angeles
- San Francisco Bay Area
- Sacramento
Mentors must reside in one of these regions and be available to participate in required regional events.

- Mentor Orientation (January)
- Meet & Greet with Fellows (January)
- Professional Development Workshop (February)
- Fellowship Networking Mixer (March)
- Mid-Program Check In (March)
- Professional Development Workshop (April)
- Capstone Event (June)
