CALAsia 2010
CALAsia is a global conference aimed at helping U.S. and Asian life science organizations spotlight their growth, technology development and innovation in their respective regions. The two day event in San Diego on October 4-5, 2010 will focus on development strategies in the US and Pacific Rim including regulatory compliance issues facing Asian and American companies, the future of global drug discovery, and financing opportunities in Asia.

China's Healthcare Market - What Does Increased Government Spending Mean for Life Science companies
Earlier this year, the Chinese government confirmed their intentions to expand healthcare coverage and improve medical care. The 2009 the government expenditure on healthcare increase 50% over the previous year to $18.75 billion. IMS Health predicts the Chinese market will see a 22% compound annual growth rate in 2010-2013. While it is true that much of this spending is targeted toward building healthcare infrastructure, industry thought leaders think this may be the leading edge of a rise in the purchase of prescription drugs and a move away from traditional medicine.
