Precision Medicine Congressional Briefing
In cooperation with Representatives Leonard Lance (R-NJ) and Scott Peters (D-CA), Co-Chairs of the Congressional Life Science Caucus

This is a widely attended event. Food and drinks will be provided.

Precision medicine is an innovative approach to disease prevention and treatment that uses individuals’ DNA to select the most effective therapies for patients. It holds the promise of revolutionizing the delivery of care as we know it by enabling researchers, providers, and patients to work together to develop more precise, preventive, and individualized treatments. Genetic sequencing, still unimaginable a few years ago, has now become one of the most powerful tools in modern medicine, but we are only beginning to understand the power of the human genome.

Attendees will learn about breakthrough advances in precision medicine, ongoing research, next-generation sequencing, applications to cancer and rare diseases, benefits to patients, impact on the U.S. health care system, and barriers to the large-scale adoption of these therapies and technologies.
