Redwood City Approves CEQA Process
On July 26, Redwood City Council gave approval to begin the CEQA process for Longfellow Real Estate Partner’s Redwood LIFE Evolve Project. The project aims to redevelop 84 acres in Redwood Shores, converting the current office park to a life science campus with over 3 million square feet. Biocom California spoke in favor of the project and moving forward with the CEQA review.
Regional Investments Awarded to Protect and Invest in the East Bay
The Metropolitan Transportation Commission awarded pilot grants to the East Bay Economic Development Alliance and Contra Costa County to advance their Priority Production Areas, which are regional growth areas that have been prioritized for economic development investments and a key part of MTC Plan Bay Area’s effort to achieve a better jobs-housing balance across the Bay Area.
SF Officials Move Forward with Business Tax Reform Initiative
Mayor London Breed, Board President Aaron Peskin, and Supervisor Rafael Mandelman announced next steps in the process to reform SF’s business taxes, the first being a request to convene a process with the business community and other stakeholders to develop specific reform recommendations. This was due to a report released by the treasurer and the city’s chief economist, which analyzed key vulnerabilities of SF’s business tax system in the context of our post-pandemic recovery.

Daiichi Sankyo Partnering Day
On November 13, senior leaders from Daiichi Sankyo (DSI) will be in the Bay Area to meet with local biotech companies, academic institutions, research organizations and venture capital firms. They will present on their activities and therapeutic focus areas, followed by a networking reception. Bay Area Life Science Mentors Needed
Biocom California Institute is seeking mentors for the Life Science Young Leaders, Veterans In Life Sciences, and NOVAWorks fellowship programs. As a mentor, you’ll have the opportunity to help a program participant take the next step in their career. Mentors will help their fellow explore the life science sector, introduce them to the wide range of career opportunities available in the industry, and help them capitalize on their unique and valuable skillset. SCU Health Summit 2023
Biocom California Institute was proud to participate in last week’s Santa Clara University Health Summit. Howard Chan facilitated a discussion that focused on the importance of diversity and representation in the healthcare and life science fields.
