San Carlos Moves to Regulate Biosafety Level 3 Labs
On March 6, the San Carlos Planning Commission voted 3-1 to regulate the development of biosafety level 3 (BSL-3) labs and prohibit biosafety level 4 (BSL-4) labs in the city. Biocom California spoke in support of creating a conditional use permit process for any BSL-3 development, which was the recommendation that was advanced by the Planning Commission. It now goes to the City Council for a final vote.
South San Francisco Reach Codes
South San Francisco is considering a "reach code"—or a sustainability regulation for building construction that goes above and beyond state requirements. We anticipate the city will release the draft code in the coming weeks and that it will move quickly through the city’s approval process. We will keep our members updated as the draft code becomes available.
