Proposed Tax Overhaul’s Impact on Biotech in San Francisco
The offices of the Controller and Treasurer and Tax Collector for the City and County of San Francisco issued recommendations intended to frame the development of a ballot measure in November 2024. If the recommendation is passed by voters, there will be a tax increase for the biotech industry. The 2022 baseline for taxes paid from the biotech industry in San Francisco was $7.6 million, the proposed amount for 2026 would be $8.9 million, an increase of $1.3 million or 17% total.
Bay Area Primary Election
In the recent primary elections, Bay Area voters determined the direction of key races and ballot propositions. Notable races included Alameda County Supervisorial Districts 4 & 5, San Mateo County Supervisorial Districts 1 & 4, and a number of local ballot measures in San Francisco County.
