Celebrating Suppliers Devoted to Meaningful Change
|
Biocom California advocates for the advancement of diversity, equity and inclusion in life science to foster a thriving industry where everyone feels welcome and valued. Biocom California Purchasing Group furthers this mission by working with key suppliers and partners who support this vision. In this edition, we are celebrating some of our suppliers who give back in meaningful ways by taking care of the spaces where we live and work, empowering our LGBTQ+ community, prioritizing spending money with diverse businesses and giving small- or minority-owned businesses a seat at the same table as multinational companies.
We invite all Biocom California members to join in our commitment to drive meaningful action by subscribing to our newsletter, attending our upcoming DE&I events, visiting our DE&I Resource Center, and signing our DE&I Member Pledge.

CELEBRATING PRIDE, WITH PRIDE
|
The life science industry thrives off diverse ideas and people. Biocom California understands the importance of allyship to ensure the industry is a welcoming place for everyone, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. For LGBTQ+ Pride Month this June, we supported the San Francisco Business Times‘ Business of Pride event, advocating for an inclusive life science industry that celebrates the talent, leadership, and innovation produced by diverse members of our community.

An Ongoing DE&I Commitment
|
Cultura, a certified women-owned business that specializes in design and space-planning services, signed Biocom California’s DE&I Pledge in June 2021. As a result, it identified four key areas within the company that needed improvement—such hiring and barriers in promotions—and implemented a tactical plan to achieve a more inclusive environment. “Feeding our culture with additional sustenance around inclusion of diversity required deliberate actions to change thinking, actions and recognizing socioeconomic diversity that required intentional
leveling,” said Anne Benge, CEO of Cultura.
