Dr. Alborz Mahdavi is a scientist-entrepreneur and currently head of the Diabetes Pillar at Eli Lilly and Company. He also serves as VP of Lilly Research Labs and CEO of Protomer Technologies. He founded and led Protomer to its acquisition by Lilly in 2021. Protomer, based in Pasadena, develops responsive drug molecules, including glucose-sensing insulins and macrocyclic peptides. Alborz trained with Prof. David Tirrell at Caltech and Prof. Robert Langer at MIT. He is an active mentor, investor and advisor to entrepreneurs in Southern California.
