Maria Soloveychik, Ph.D.

CEO & Co-Founder, SyntheX Bio

Dr. Maria Soloveychik is the co-founder and CEO of SyntheX, a therapeutics company reinventing drug discovery using synthetic biology to develop better, safer medicines. She envisioned SyntheX in Toronto before relocating to San Francisco in 2016 to build and lead the company. Under her leadership, SyntheX developed its proprietary empirical drug discovery technology, ToRFLEx, which enables the discovery of rare compounds that disrupt protein-protein interactions or act as molecular glues and degraders to precisely modulate protein function. This technology paved the way for a first-in-class oncology pipeline and revenue-generating partnerships, including a $550 million collaboration with BMS.
Maria holds a PhD in Molecular Genetics from the University of Toronto, where she uncovered novel pathways linking metabolism and epigenetic signaling. Prior, she was a research scientist at a structural genomics consortium at the University Health Network, where her work contributed to numerous structural determinations and the identification of drug candidates.
