CEO & Founder, Exthymic
Rich Stoner is CEO and founder of Exthymic Corporation, a San Diego company building devices that produce autologous cell therapies like CAR-T inside community hospitals without a dedicated cleanroom or QC laboratory. Exthymic was recently awarded a significant ARPA-H contract through the agency’s SCOPE program to develop the prototype device.
Rich previously served as founding CSO at National Resilience and Director of Resilience X, a 135-person advanced R&D team building the next generation of complex medicine manufacturing technologies. Prior to that, he was the founding CSO at Synthego, a CRISPR biotechnology company, where he built the core infrastructure for its automated guide RNA production facility, its high-throughput cell engineering business unit, and a suite of CRISPR bioinformatics design and analysis tools. Rich holds a Ph.D. in bioengineering from the University of Pittsburgh and completed postdoctoral work at UC San Diego on autism neuroanatomy and early gaze-based biomarkers for ASD diagnosis. He has been writing code for over 30 years and is glad he no longer has to.
