Wilson Xu, Ph.D.

CEO, Balto Pharmaceuticals

Dr. Xu is the founder and CEO of Balto Pharmaceuticals, Inc., South Pasadena, California. Balto is both a platform and pipeline company focused on first-in-class small molecule inhibitors that target cooperative stability of protein-protein interactions (PPIs) in protein complexes that drive cancer and other diseases. These novel inhibitors disrupt PPIs and elicit degradation of the interacting proteins, which are termed DISGRADER™ inhibitors.

Prior to founding Balto, Dr. Xu was a member of the faculty and a lab head at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Graduate School of Medical Sciences of Cornell University, and Nevada Cancer Institute. Dr. Xu earned his PhD from Massey University in New Zealand in 1991. He completed his Human Frontier Science Program postdoctoral fellowship at Molecular Biology Institute of UCLA and Department of Genetics of Harvard University. In 2003, Dr. Xu was named an American Cancer Society Research Scholar.
