Commercialization Boot Camp

This day-long intensive seminar is for mid- to upper-level scientists and engineers and executive-level individuals from startup companies seeking to gain insight into the steps and strategies required to bring a new biomedical product to market. Network with industry peers while learning through interactive sessions related to Forecasting, Product Design, Product Piloting and Commercialization.  Our objective is to help participants strengthen their ability to develop firm strategy, manage the process of product design and piloting, and commercialize new products.
 
Space is limited to 50 emerging leaders from large and small companies. Registration is required.

  • Product design must include the translation of customers' needs into technical requirements and design parameters. This module teaches the gathering and analysis of customer needs data, and the translation of needs data into technical requirements and design parameters.

  • Organizations use strategic forecasting to support decisions about their future strategic positioning. Forecasting helps companies align their business with future demand and strategically commercialize their new products and services.

1:00 - 2:15pm  MODULE 3:  Piloting for Product Enhancement
Nelli Theyel, PhD, Senior Manager, Market Planning Lead, BioOncology & Immunology at Genentech
  • Piloting is critical for product enhancement and manufacturing. Effective piloting enables testing the product to see how well it works, development of relationships with likely customers, and consideration of additional features that should be added to the original product to optimize the solution for the customer.

2:45 - 4:00pm  MODULE 4:  Commercializing New Products
Mike Zuerlein, PhD, Former Director, Manufacturing Engineering at Illumina
  • Teams developing a new product often face a formidable gap between their concept or prototype and commercializing their product. This module will teach design for manufacturability and quality and cost review in order to move a new product to commercialization.
