Through Life Science Innov8Ed, we address the community need for hands-on learning experiences and career preparation. This is a multifaceted program that delivers hands-on science labs and lessons to underserved and Title 1 schools across San Diego County, impacting 10,000 students each year with hands-on kits and lessons, as well as providing connections to local life science professionals in the form of career panels, teacher and student company tours, celebration events, and teacher professional development.

Educator Industry

Creating Pathways and Diversifying the Future Life Science Workforce

We are committed to creating an accessible and impactful pathway for students to pursue careers in the life sciences. We work with schools and school district Career Technical Education (CTE) Pathway programs to ensure we are training teachers, influencing curriculum, and preparing our students for careers in this industry.

  • In-class Biomanufacturing Internships

    200-300 high school interns gain invaluable experience each school year.

  • Microcredentialing

    In partnership with BCSI, this program allows students to demonstrate competency in hirable, industry-designed lab skills.

  • Hands-On Science Labs

    Impacting 10,000 students each year: enzymes, ocean acidification, bacterial transformation, and protein purification.

  • Genomics Education

    In partnership with Illumina, the Illumina Genomics Discovery program provides genomics curriculum through hands-on wet lab experiences and virtual simulation labs.

  • CTE Pathway Support for California School Districts

    Formal advising and partnerships to support CTE Pathways: providing a holistic industry-focused curriculum with work-based learning opportunities.
