Mike worked in the biotechnology industry for eight years in various bioprocess engineering capacities from research, product development, and manufacturing support for tissue engineered medical products. Mike joined MiraCosta College in 2004 to lead the development of a new Bioprocess Technology program and, in 2014, authored the first-of-its-kind bachelor’s degree in biomanufacturing. This degree program has had better than 95% success rates for students from backgrounds that have been historically underserved in STEM higher education. As a dean, Mike now carries this passion for social justice, access, and success across all the STEM disciplines at MiraCosta College and the communities we serve.
