She brings to Biocom a background in program management, account and partner relations, event planning, project management, and marketing analysis. Hanan obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Cal State Northridge and a Master’s in Business Administration from Pepperdine Graziadio School of Business and Management.

As Vice President of Corporate Communications, Julie is responsible for developing communications strategies and programs to drive awareness surrounding Biocom’s strategic priorities.

Prior to joining Biocom, Julie held leadership roles at companies ranging from global life science giants to early-stage biotechnology companies as well as public affairs roles in Washington, D.C. at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. She holds a Master’s degree from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government and a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of Virginia.

Arlene is responsible for communicating the Biocom brand through visual design. She uses the highest quality of design practices to clearly present Biocom’s goals, initiatives and benefits to members.

Arlene has a background in visual marketing strategies, brand creation and packaging design. She began her career working for a design agency that focused on brand experience for healthcare, wellness and tech companies in the San Diego region. Her degree focus was Interactive Media.

Maria oversees the internal communication, structure, and management of the Purchasing Group while providing support to identify, evaluate and improve key vendor and member processes to deliver the most effective solutions. She also manages marketing, vendor participation and member relations for the Member Perks Program.

Before moving to San Diego, Maria obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and minors in Chemistry and Spanish from the University of South Carolina.

Sabrina graduated from the University of Southern California in May 2019 with a BS in Biology and Minor in Business. Her past experience includes an internship with WaveMaker360 Health, in which she identified and networked with healthcare start-ups at USC.

Brittany oversees Biocom’s regulatory initiatives and monitors and responds to guidance and rulemaking documents. She is Biocom’s point of contact for federal agencies including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Brittany has experience as a biotechnology Regulatory Affairs Associate, holds a Regulatory Affairs Certificate from the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society (RAPS), a BBA in Legal Studies in Business from Temple University and is pursuing a dual Master’s degree in Biotechnology Management.

George also leads Biocom’s Big Data Committee with the goal of advancing Precision Medicine success for Biocom members.

George brings a unique skillset to this position with an undergraduate degree in Biology from Duke University and an M.B.A. In his previous role as Marketing Director for the Union-Tribune, George led his team in all B2B and B2C marketing efforts. George is the winner of an Emmy Award for his creative work in advertising.

Prior to joining Biocom, Melanie managed government-community relations for San Diego nonprofits and also worked in the local office of a State Assembly Member from 2005 until 2009. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with minors in Art History and Sociology, from the University of California, San Diego.

Shaye has a strong background in content development and provides valuable guidance to members/sponsors looking to gain exposure to the California life science community through event programming. She also oversees multiple advisory committees and works closely with the Biocom executive team.

Shaye graduated from the University of Buffalo (SUNY) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and began her career as a counselor of emotionally disturbed children, working for Catholic Charities, before moving to California to focus on life science.

Laure oversees Biocom’s Washington DC office, which she opened in 2013 to advance the interests of Biocom members in our nation’s capital. She is responsible for managing and implementing Biocom’s federal policy agenda and proactively lobbying federal officials.

Laure served five years in the U.S. House of Representatives, overseeing healthcare policy. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Master’s in Public Affairs and Political Communication from Sciences Po Bordeaux. She also graduated from the Institute on Business and Government Affairs at Georgetown University.

Jennifer held various procurement roles in the biotechnology sector. Her experience and collaborative demeanor allow her to be a useful resource and a peer for member company procurement professionals.

Anthony comes to Biocom most recently as the executive director and co-founder of a Sports Tech start-up. His background includes extensive engineer collaboration, sales, capital development, and funding initiatives as well as product development and supply chain management. Anthony carries an MBA in Supply Chain and Logistics as well as a BS in Management.

Carol began her accounting career with famed local video game company Cinematronics and grew her career with Online Bookkeeping, adding experience with a large array of clients spanning several sizes and industries.

Michelle has spent over 20 years in Bay Area life science sales, marketing and business development. She has held leadership roles at a large lab supply distributor and at a biotech tools startup, which fostered her broad view of the Bay Area market, its challenges and its opportunities.

Casey brings a background in event planning, client services, community volunteer work and administrative support, specifically c-level executive assistance and office management. Previously, she worked in post-production entertainment and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre from Pepperdine University.

As the leading advocate for the life science industry in California, President and CEO Joe Panetta guides a robust organization of nearly 1000 members, setting strategic direction, guiding policy priorities, and championing the biopharmaceutical industry at the local, state, national, and international level.

Mr. Panetta holds a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from LeMoyne College, and a Master of Public Health degree in industrial and environmental health from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a graduate of the Brookings Institution Program for Executives and the Harvard Program on Negotiation.

She also brings experience working at CONNECT, an organization recognized as one of the world’s most successful regional business accelerators, where she managed the production and led creative design of all marketing materials. Lauren hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Graphic Communication from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

She brings to Biocom a targeted marketing communications background that includes servicing over 90 countries and 43,000 employees worldwide for AIG Insurance in New York City. Heather obtained a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from the University of Delaware with concentrations in International Business and Management Information Systems (MIS).

Andrew earned a Business Administration degree from CSUSM with an emphasis in management of information systems. He has worked in the IT industry full-time since graduating back in 2011 and his previous job was with Hitachi Data Systems as a support engineer troubleshooting data centers and storage arrays.

Pete is responsible for the oversight of the day-to-day operations of the accounting & finance department of Biocom, the Purchasing Group and Biocom Institute. He manages the financial, compliance and operational reporting of the three entities and works to mitigate business risks while enhancing value for their many stakeholders.

Pete started his career as an external auditor with PwC and now has over 17 years of experience in the accounting field. In addition to his regular work, in recent years Pete has also taught accounting and business courses at several San Diego area universities. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Accounting/Business Administration from Cal State San Marcos in 2002 and a Masters in Science Accounting/Tax in 2011. He has been an active CA CPA since 2004.

She works to improve the level of communication between the Biocom Purchasing Group and its preferred suppliers in a unified and supportive manner.

Her background is in marketing communications and event coordination in the technology and applications industry in Silicon Valley. She received an Associate of Arts in Marketing and Bachelor of Science in Business Management at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.
